Listen first
Your plan begins with a conversation about the people, values, and responsibilities that shape your decisions.
About the firm
The Law Office of Emma J. Hilton helps New Hampshire families make clear, confident estate-planning decisions with a steady hand and plain-language guidance.
The approach
Emma believes estate planning should be personal, understandable, and accessible. With more than 25 years of experience, she has found that getting to know the person first is the most important step in creating documents everyone can feel proud of.
With extensive experience in tax, trusts, and estate planning, Emma helps individuals and families protect the people and assets that matter most. Her approach is practical and personal: she listens closely, understands each client’s goals, and explains options in plain language.
What you can expect
Your plan begins with a conversation about the people, values, and responsibilities that shape your decisions.
Legal choices are presented in plain language, so you can move forward without feeling overwhelmed.
The work continues beyond signing, with guidance that helps make your plan easier for loved ones to carry out.
Professional background
Emma’s work includes wills, trusts, estate planning, tax matters, and the transfer of wealth to the next generation. Her background in taxation helps her recognize and address tax considerations that can arise as part of an estate plan.
Before establishing her own practice, Emma advised high-net-worth individuals on tax and financial matters in the Private Client Service department of Arthur Andersen in Boston. She later practiced in the Tax and Trust & Estate Departments at McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Credentials
Emma earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and is a frequent speaker for NBI, an organization providing continuing legal education to lawyers nationwide.
Beyond the office
Emma is the mother of three grown children and has been married to her husband, Greg, for more years than she can count. Since retiring from Local 103 Electrical Union, Greg is often the first person to greet clients, answer the phones, and welcome visitors through the door.
Whether you are creating your first will, planning for a growing family, or updating a trust after a life change, the firm offers a calm, practical place to begin.
